Joe Carducci, Former Co-Owner of SST Records Reads From New Essay Collection “Life Against Dementia”
Joe Carducci moved out to Hollywood in 1976 to write screenplays. The record business was plan B and punk rock meant there were no barriers to entry. He built independent distribution at Systematic Record Distribution in Portland and Berkeley, did early punk radio at KBOO, and worked with Dead Kennedys at Optional, and with Flipper, Birthday Party, SPK, etc. at Thermidor, before returning to L.A. to run the SST label for Black Flag from 1981-1986. Returning to writing Carducci wrote his books and screenplays. He’ll be in from Wyoming reading signing and q&a’ing about his books and record labels.
